inRoute Route Planner is a very interesting software, and it took us some time to decide if we could compare it one-to-one to our own MyWay Route Planner. Actually, inRoute is not a traditional route optimizer you get used to but rather a tool that helps drivers to optimize long routes. inRoute is not the software that can help you optimize many stops, but it's a decent software for those who run long routes across the country.

This article will compare inRoute and MyWay core features and pricing while showing how each can help your delivery team. Although honestly, the two platforms are pretty different, hopefully, after reading this article, you should be able to choose the right tool for your team.

Features

inRoute

The whole purpose of the inRoute planner is to give you some details about the route that no other Route Planners do. Suppose you need a route planner for long (very long) routes and are looking for an app that can provide juicy info like elevation, weather, curviness, and all sorts of alerts for drivers. The inRoute app does precisely this. inRoute is not a last-mile delivery app and can't be used for this purpose. It does not have proof of delivery, it does not have tracking, and it does not have some other features couriers and sales will appreciate. inRoute planner is very niche and crafted for truck drivers and those people who will appreciate different route settings but only in long transit.

MyWay Route Planner

In opposition to inRoute - MyWay Route Planner is an app that was created for last-mile delivery. It has some great features that will make the whole delivery process looks easy. Suppose you're looking for a platform to help you with simple route planning and optimization. In that case, it's much easier to start with MyWay Route Planner app. inRoute and MyWay are both available on iOS as apps (the Android version of MyWay is coming soon) and are pretty straightforward to start using. MyWay will work better for businesses with decentralized operations, delivery companies, sales, service companies, and others that need route optimization in the city and outside of it. It does not have weather, elevation, and other environmental things, which might be helpful for couriers on moto or truck drivers. However, it has many other settings that help optimize routes in the best possible way.

Usability

inRoute

Speaking of usability, we must say it's pretty hard to compare those two. Unfortunately, inRoute looks outdated, and the whole experience of using it is a bit painful. The interface looks complicated and not so straightforward at all. The features inRoute has are valuable - no doubt, but the whole experience of using the app makes it hard to believe there is value in data. When you get used to the interface, it's ok, but before that, it will be frustrating.

MyWay Route Planner

In opposition to inRoute (and many other route planners), MyWay is the app that optimized for operation efficiency. The interface is straightforward and eye appealing. All critical information is highlighted, so it's pretty easy to find it. MyWay is very intuitive to use, and our team spends a lot of time and effort to keep it this way.

Pricing

inRoute

inRoute priced pretty well. A free version of inRoute has a limit of 8 stops, and the premium version is just $4.99 per month in the USA. Honestly speaking, not many apps these days have that generous pricing, and the whole market for apps like inRoute is tiny. We have our own app for travelers and truck drivers that do something similar inRoute does (the app name is Highway Weather, and it's available on Apple AppStore), and we understand the challenges here. Anyhow, inRoute price is reasonable, and as the app can save a lot of anxiety by building environment-aware routes for truck drivers, bicyclists, and moto couriers, we think it's worth it. inRoute offers a free 7 days trial and has a limit of stops you can add on a free version

MyWay Route Planner

MyWay Route Planner pricing structure is pretty simple. You can enjoy a free plan with no features or amount of routes limited. On a free plan, you can get up to 20 stops. MyWay Route Planner has two types of premium subscriptions: 1-month plan, and 1-year plan. Each plan has a limit of 200 stops and no other limitations. Simple, choose how many stops you need to optimize and pick the best plan for you.

Final Thoughts: inRoute vs MyWay

When it comes to route planning and optimization, both inRoute and MyWay use robust routing algorithms. When inRoute builds routes taking weather and elevation into account, MyWay is overall better route optimization software for couriers, sales, service companies, etc.

Feature inRoute MyWay Route Planner
Free Plan Up to 8 stops Up to 20 stops
Premium Plan Cost $4.99 USD per month $9.99 USD per month
Weather Charts Only on Premium plan No
Availability Web interface, iOS and Android apps are in beta iPhone/iPad, Android (* coming soon)
Working well for Anyone who want to build routes taking weather into account Couriers, Sales, Truck drivers, Service companies, etc.

As we said at the beginning of this article, both apps are designed for different purposes and address different needs. If you need weather or your work depend on elevation - take inRoute. On the other hand, if you need proof of delivery, customer base, excellent address coverage, and one of the best route planning algorithms - pick MyWay. We highly recommend trying both to find the one that works for you.
