The benefit of using route optimization software a pretty straightforward - you can save a lot of your time and money on fuel. There are many options to choose from when we talk about route optimization with some of those options are working great for big (enterprise) companies, some of those are better suitable for medium and small businesses, and those are smashing it for individuals. By the way, there are even free options to choose from, like Google Maps, but by using those, it means you have to become an algorithm and try to find the best possible route by dragging stops back and forth.
This article's primary goal is to highlight the main features of Circuit Route Planner and compare it with MyWay Route Planner. We will take a deep dive and compare the features, usability, pricing tiers, and other aspects of Circuit and MyWay apps, so let's begin.
Circuit Route Planner, same as MyWay, are two route planners who are doing an incredible job of providing the best in class route optimization. The main difference between them is focus. When one is more focused on covering enterprise (Circuit), the other one is doing a great job making route optimization easy and affordable for small businesses and individuals.
So, if you're looking for a platform to help you with simple route planning and route optimization, you can download the MyWay Route Planner app from the Apple App Store (for iPhone/iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android). The Circuit in addition to iOS and Android apps has a web version and dedicated version for teams.
Circuit lets you create optimal routes, monitor routes, update customers with delivery times, collect proof of delivery, and set up specific constraints to customize your route to your business needs. Circuit has pretty much everything the essential route optimization software must-have. In addition to basic features, it also has the ability to import stops through CSV or Excel files (in the Android version only). Unfortunately, the majority of the features like delivery notifications and route monitoring are included in the premium version only, and the app premium tiers are not that cheap (we will talk about this in a pricing section). As we said, the feature set of the Circuit is pretty impressive, especially if you are prepared to pay big bucks for that. What the Circuit lacks is the ability to save "more" information about stops. If you need to save an apartment number or want to have a dedicated stop's colour, or simply want to assign it to a contact (and call it from the app when you arrive on a stop), all these features are not there. Overall, it's not a drama, but it's nice to have.
MyWay Route Planner, on another side, has some great features which will have you covered regardless of your work industry. It can suit those who work in delivery and simply need to visit multiple places during the day. One of the best features MyWay has is customizable stop fields which you can set up for your specific needs. This feature will allow you to have that personalized, unique set of data for each stop.
To be able to build the most efficient route possible, MyWay simulates thousands of different route combinations until it finds the best possible route. As a result, MyWay route optimization algorithms significantly reduce the time it takes to build routes for delivery services. Of course, drivers use MyWay for more than two-stop routes, and there are several other factors to consider when planning routes, such as required delivery time (some stops need their package by a specific time), delivery urgency and vehicle capacity planning.
In addition, MyWay also has some route optimization settings (like the ability to avoid u-turns and vehicle size settings) that can change route optimization to work better for your specific needs. You also can save even more time by using import feature, which allows you to quickly add stops by uploading CSV and Excel docs with the lists of delivery addresses.
Circuit user interface is pretty good. We believe it's one of the best UIs in route planning software. The interface is pretty clean, animations are good and smooth. All information is pretty simple to find, and all important information is always visible on a screen.
Unfortunately, when we were trying to use the app, we noticed a few minor bugs in the user interface, but it comes from the desire of Circuit to constantly improve the app. We noticed that Circuit is changing the user interface pretty often. It seems like they are constantly working on the interface improvements. If you look out there in route planning software alternatives, you will notice just a few companies constantly working on user interface improvements, one being Circuit and another one is MyWay.
If we talk about usability and user experience, you can find that MyWay is seriously optimized for operation efficiency. The interface is simple and straightforward, animations are smooth and simple. All critical information is highlighted, and all other information is hidden but easily accessible. The majority of gestures are intuitive, and you are not going to spend hours looking for that one important setting you need or spending hours figuring out how to add a Proof of Delivery.
All it's being said, by using an app, you can notice it saves you a time on basic operations like adding and closing stops, managing priorities, etc., a second here, a half a second there. Overall, on a route with hundreds of stops, you will save 3-5 minutes on average. At first thought, it does not feel like much, but trust me - it makes a huge difference when you use the app every day.
Both Circuit Route Planner and MyWay Route Planner have similar premium tiers, but the price is VERY different. Both Circuit and MyWay have a Free plan and a Monthly. MyWay also has a Yearly plan that helps you cut some costs if you need route optimization all year long.
Circuit pricing tiers are sitting on that side of route planning which you can call "expensive". It's affordable when you are a single warrior, but when we talk about a company of 20 people with many stops to optimise, the price will be HUGE. The Circuit has two sets of plans - one being for individual drivers with the price of $20 USD per month and a small business plan, that is pretty tricky to calculate! The free plan is available if you want to optimize not more than 10 stops.
For a business plane, the one disappointment we would like to mention is Proof of Delivery. That elementary feature, which is usually distributed by all route planners (including MyWay) free of charge - for some reason, is part of the Circuit premium package, and It's not a part of the cheapest premium package - it pushes the price up to $500 USD per per month, which is like 50x times higher than MyWay!
Circuit Route Planner also charge business customers for amount of stops they need to optimize, so lat's say you have 5000 stops to optimize across 5 drivers monthly, and yo need proof of delivery. In Circuit you will pay 500 (standard plan) + 150 (usage for 3000 stops 0.06 for each). So overall 650$. In MyWay Route Planner you will pay 50$. Nothing else need to be said.
MyWay Route Planner pricing structure is pretty simple. On a free plan, you can get up to 15 stops with no features or amount of routes being limited (even Proof of Delivery is included in the free plan). MyWay Route Planner has two types of premium subscriptions: a 1-month plan and 1-year plan. Each plan has a limit of 200 stops and no other limitations. The yearly plan also allows you to save up to 50% off your expenses if you need a route optimization all year long. We try to keep route optimization affordable for everyone, so MyWay pricing tiers are one of those of the least expensive on the market.
When it comes to route planning and optimization, both Circuit and MyWay use robust routing algorithms, which help drivers save time and money daily.
Circuit has a clean advantage of having a web version, but it is also a much more expensive solution. We believe it works very well for enterprise companies but is not giving much to individual drivers. Circuit for individual drivers and small businesses is simply not affordable and pretty limited. $500 USD is too much to ask for features like Proof of Delivery, especially when there are better options to choose from. Actually, by using Circuit, we concluded that the company's main goal is to serve big enterprise companies with many drivers on-board. Do they provide enough value for $500 USD per driver per month? You can decide for yourself.
The MyWay Route Planner app is a simple, good-looking and affordable solution not only for individual drivers and small businesses but also for medium size companies. Unfortunately, it is missing some features desired by enterprise companies, but has all essential things on-board if you want to keep it simple. MyWay covers those who work in the delivery industry and those in sales, property management, small business delivery teams, etc. The price is a very important factor to consider in small to medium businesses, and MyWay can be 50 times less expensive than Circuit (per driver per month). Our goal in MyWay is to make it affordable for everyone to save time and money on route optimization. If you want to start saving, please download MyWay Route Planner today. The best time to save was yesterday. Another best time? Today!
